The founder of Shito-Ryu Karate-Do, "Kenwa Mabuni," inherited the Itosu-ha, Shuri-te, from "Anko Itosu." After that, he also mastered the Naha-te and "Higaonna Kanryo'' schools. He received the initials of both Itosu Sensei and Higaonna Sensei, incorporating his own kata and techniques, and named himself “Shito-ryu”.The philosophy is to cultivate rationality and agility and train physical strength through training that makes the most of characteristics of both schools, without confusing the two schools.Shito-Ryu Karate-Do does not have flashy movements, but it is based on the practice of living kata that understand the content of the technique. At present, the Nippon Karate-Do Kai conducts research into the content of kata at Shito-Ryu Technical Training Workshops, theoretically investigates the techniques, and practices them as disassembled Kumite, so that future generations will be able to pass on the correct "Shito-Ryu Karate-Do." We are working to pass on our philosophy and technology.
